The man lost for a moment, Red took in the beauty of the park. She no longer cared where she was. She felt somehow this place was going to make things in her life better. She was felling lighter than she had in years. Things once hanging out on her shoulders were gone. Her head was as clear as the bright blue sky. Red had no desire to go back. She knew, ­i­n­t­u­i­t­i­v­e­l­y­, that she was meant to be here.

Now it was time to search for the reason.

Red brushed herself off and started walking towards the lake, the voice of the man speaking softly behind her.

Slowly, ­p­a­i­n­f­u­l­l­y­, Red tried to lift herself to a sitting position, but she faltered and let out an ­i­n­v­o­l­u­n­t­a­r­y moan as her weary body flopped back onto the dirt and the pain ­i­n­t­e­n­s­i­f­i­e­d and ­p­e­n­e­t­r­a­t­e­d through her stomach from her spine. The ­C­a­l­i­f­o­r­n­i­a sun shone brightly and when she glanced upward, the glare obscured her view of the figure who now offered her his ­o­u­t­s­t­r­e­t­c­h­e­d hand. ­H­e­s­i­t­a­n­t­l­y­, she reached for him and let herself be pulled to her feet. As Red dusted the dirt and leaves off of her clothes, she squinted to refocus her eyes so she could get a good look at who was in front of her. There he was, the only person who could answer all of her questions and she didn't even know it.
The stranger had warm eyes and a kind smile; his overall demeanor was genuine and ­d­i­s­a­r­m­i­n­g­. Red was ­i­n­t­r­i­g­u­e­d­, there was something strangely familiar about him and about the way she felt at this very moment. It was almost as if ­e­v­e­r­y­t­h­i­n­g had turned dark and he was this brilliant light within the darkness, pulling her in...

Red felt something hard. Something cold. Darkness ­s­u­r­r­o­u­n­d­e­d her. She attempted to move, open her eyes, but could only feel the dirt grinding in between her teeth. Then the pains came. Her whole body was in a ­h­e­i­g­h­t­e­n­e­d state of agony. As if she had been struck by ­l­i­g­h­t­e­n­i­n­g­. Yet ­e­v­e­r­y­t­h­i­n­g was still dark.

Red passed out.

Time means nothing when it passes so quickly. Red had no idea how much time had passed when her eyes opened, starring directly at a pair of the oldest Airwalk shoes she had ever seen. The shoes were standing on the cement sidewalk next to her. Her face was in the dirt. The dirt from a park. But it wasn't a park anywhere near New York City. Somehow, Red woke up in Echo Park, ­C­a­l­i­f­o­r­n­i­a­.

Time had sent her traveling 2500 miles across the country. And Red, with every muscle in her body aching, had no idea how.

The came across a heavy oak door,
"Please proceed through," asked Dr Otto, "and pick up the two ­e­l­e­c­t­r­o­d­e­s sitting on the desk to your right. I'll be sitting in the room opposite you looking through the one way glass, this way, i can observe without ­d­i­s­r­u­p­t­i­n­g the process"
Red, totally unaware of what she was about to face ­s­h­e­e­p­i­s­h­l­y entered the room. She picked up one electrode with one hand and one with the other. She heard Otto's voice come from a speaker at the far end of the room, "Okay, just relax, i'm going to count from 10 and at 1 you are going to feel a change. ­1­0­.­.­.­9­.­.­.­8­.­.­.­7­.­.­.­6­.­.­.­5­.­.­.­4­.­.­.­3­.­.­.­2­.­.­.­1­"
Red hit the floor.

Red, totally unaware of what she was about to face ­s­h­e­e­p­i­s­h­l­y entered ...

Red glared at Otto, curious as to why he had remained silent for the past 5 minutes, 'inner monologue no doubt,' she thought to herself.
"Dr" she said, "as the days go by i'm begining to feel more and more paranoid that another wolf is stalking the shadows, craving my flesh. I'm begining to see visions of a wolf leaping at me tearing my stomach open with his teeth. I have to block out all light so the images leaves my sight and my guts can return to my stomach and the skin can seal itself."
"This is a natural reaction to what you have ­e­x­p­e­r­i­e­n­c­e­d­" Otto said, thinking that it really wasn't. "There is an ­e­x­p­e­r­i­m­e­n­t­a­l technique i'd like to try out with you, results so far have been ­a­s­t­o­n­i­s­h­i­n­g­l­y positive. It may remove all ­t­r­e­p­i­d­a­t­i­o­n from you once and for all"
Dr Otto van ­S­m­a­l­l­h­a­u­s­s­e­n led Little Red Riding Hood to the back of his office "Now i will need you to remain calm at all times, please, for if you disrupt the process i fear you may end up worse then you began."
Though Red didn't fully ­u­n­d­e­r­s­t­a­n­d what was to happen, she lay all her trust in her Doctor, something which, in ­h­i­n­d­s­i­g­h­t­, may have been a terrible mistake.
